Scholarship

If you are an incoming freshman male at the University of Michigan, you can apply for the Garnet and Gold Scholarship!

Here is a letter from the Director of our Scholarship Program, Alex Winkelman, explaining the details of our new scholarship opportunity. Apply here: 2010 Garnet & Gold Scholarship.

Dear Incoming University of Michigan Student:

First and foremost, congratulations on being accepted to one of the finest universities in the country. Over the next several years, you will undoubtedly encounter new experiences that will shape your college experience and help contribute towards your future success in life.

Pi Kappa Alpha seeks out every possible opportunity to support those who exhibit exemplary achievement inside and outside of the classroom. Since 1868, our organization has been in the business of developing men of outstanding character and success. We do this by providing our members with leadership opportunities, personal development, and strong relationships with one another. Many famous and successful alumni (such as news anchor Ted Koppel, Florida State head football coach Bobby Bowden, and Olympian Steve Prefontaine) credit Pi Kappa Alpha as a major catalyst for the success that they experienced later in their lives.

In order to further support the outstanding young men that will one day bring similar recognition to the University of Michigan, the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity is pleased to announce two scholarships of $500, awarded to two exceptional incoming male freshmen at the University of Michigan. The purpose of these scholarships is to reward those who have demonstrated devotion to academic achievement as well as a commitment to make their community a better place to live. Applying for or receiving this scholarship does not imply your commitment of membership into Pi Kappa Alpha or any other campus organization, but merely reaffirms your desire to grasp every opportunity to succeed as you enter the exciting new world of the University of Michigan.

If you are interested in applying for these scholarships, simply complete the application below and mail it in to the address at the bottom of this page by July 20th, 2010. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 202-302-7945 or awink@umich.edu. We are strongly looking forward to reading your application and meeting you soon.

Sincerely,

Alex Winkelman
