The Rivalry Run is a joint effort by both Pi Kappa Alpha and Phi Gamma Delta fraternities to raise money for the support of cancer patient services and cancer research. We split all money raised between The Lloyd Carr Cancer Fund, which offers cancer services to afflicted patients in Ann Arbor, and The American Cancer Society, which conducts cancer research on a national level.
Throughout the day preceding the Michigan-Ohio State football game, each fraternity member takes a turn running the game ball between the visiting stadium and the home field. As a whole, we run 187 miles, from the Horseshoe to the Big House.
Prior to 2007, each fraternity conducted their own run. This year however, we realized we could raise far more by working as a unit, rather than competing against each other. With double the manpower, we hope to raise over $90,000!
